Atsushi Imagawa
About
Dr. Atsushi Imagawa was born in September, 1970 in Kagawa, Japan. He studied medicine at the Kitasato University School of Medicine and graduated in 1995. He trained technique of endoscopic skill for endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) under Prof. Naohisa Yahagi (the professor of Keio University currently) in 2003-2004 at University of Tokyo. He achieved the PhD Degree with studies related to difficulty of ESD at Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2009.
In 2009, he became Director of Endoscopy Center in Mitoyo General Hospital, Kagawa (in the Shikoku region) Japan. He has been educating the young endoscopists while doing the hard work in the community hospital with a lot of emergency patients.
He was invited and participated in 2009-2014 for faculty of Asian Institute of TeleSurgery (AITS), course of international GI endoscopy techniques in Taiwan. He is currently member of the Editorial Board of several endoscopy/gastroenterology journals and invited reviewer of more than 10 medical journals, including Endoscpy, Digestive Diseases and Sciences (DDS), Digestive Endoscopy (DEN), Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (JGH). In addition, he has been appointed as Editor in chief of World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of (WJGE) from 2014.
Other activates are subjected to sedation for the complex endoscopic treatment using propofol with bispectral index(BIS) monitoring and target-controlled infusion(TCI) systems, and peppermint oil as a safety antispasmodic agent for Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD).
