Carla Freire is a lecturer Professor in the School of Education and Social Sciences, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria since 2005 in the areas of Accessible Communication, Multimedia, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) applied to Education and Communication and Research Methodologies. She coordinated the master’s degree in Accessible Communication since 2014 to 2023, currently constitutes the scientific-pedagogical commission of this course. Carla holds: a PhD in Multimedia Engineering at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain, with the thesis: Introdução de ferramentas multimédia num contexto de terapia: Estudo exploratório aplicado à terapia de pacientes esquizofrénicos (Introduction of multimedia tools in therapy settings: Exploratory study applied to schizophrenic patients therapy ); postgraduate studies in Audiodescription at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (PUC Minas, Brazil; postgraduate studies in Educational Communication and Digital Media at Universidade Aberta, Portugal; degree in New Communication Technologies at Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal. She is an integrated member of the Centre of Studies in Education and Innovation (CI&DEI) and collaborates with Research Laboratory in Design and Arts (LIDA), having as major research interests, accessibility and inclusion, ICT and multimedia in education and communication; Intervention in community using technologies and arts. She has been publishing articles in specialized journals; chapter(s) of books; reviewing papers submitted to scientific journals; integrating scientific committees in events and organizing events; supervising master's theses and participating in academic juries. She has received 2 awards and/or honors.
