In addition, I have participated in the Networks of Excellence Program "Female cultural heritage in Spanish-speaking countries (16th-19th centuries): Methodologies of recovery" and currently in the Latin American Network of Anthropology of Biopolitics of ALA (Latin American Association of Anthropology). I have participated in 10 research projects, being PI (Principal Investigator) in one of them.

AREAS OF RESEARCH. I have focused on the History of America, in particular Cuba and Mexico. I began by researching the Enlightenment mentality and Cuban institutional history of the 18th and 19th centuries. As a result of this work, I published Memories of the Enlightenment. The Economic Societies of Friends of the Country in Cuba, 1783-1832 (2000) and various articles in which I have revisited the history of the Cuban Economic Societies with new analysis tools, such as biopolitics. Thanks to my training in anthropology, almost two decades ago I began to analyze, from a biopolitical and intersectional approach, the history of Yucatan (social control / violence against women / inter-ethnic relations) and the trafficking of Maya people between Yucatán and Cuba in the mid-19th century to work as forced labourers.

VISITING RESEARCH FELLOW in Havana, Mexico City or Mérida (Yucatán), Visiting Scholar at the John Carter Brown Library (Brown University, Providence, RI), the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Texas (Austin) and at the Otto Richter Library of the University of Miami (Florida). In 2017 I was awarded the “Vasco de Quiroga” Chair at the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo (Mexico). I have been invited to give numerous conferences and seminars at European and American universities (Emory University, Universidad Veracruzana, Trinity College, Paris-Sorbonne, Toulousse-Le Mirail and Bologna, among others).

PUBLICATIONS: I have published more than 100 research works including books, articles, book chapters, reviews, and presentations in national and international publications. These two articles have received very positive evaluations that underline the importance of working on this topic, its development, and the need to continue deepening it.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOCIETY: My participation as guest specialist in the documentary Malintzin, the story of an enigma (Mexico, 2019) has led me to spread the topic on other formats, such as the article "Malinche: between facts and imagination" (2021), whose publication in The conversation has generated more than 20,000 views. I am a regular professor of the USAL Interuniversity Experience Program for her desire to share academic knowledge to society. I have also been a weekly collaborator of the program Vamos a ver (Castilla-León-TV) with the section "Historias de Castilla y León" (2020-21).

CAPACITY OF EDUCATION: my dedication to teaching has been enriched by the task of training young researchers who have shown interest in developing their careers in the field of Latin American History, doing their TFM (Final Master’s Thesis) in areas of work related to the subjects I impart. Currently, I supervise the doctoral dissertations of six of them.`
