Dimitrios Konstantonis

Dr Dimitrios Konstantonis graduated from the School of Dentistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He completed his postgraduate training and residence in Orthodontics at the Center for Advanced Dental Education in Saint Louis University, USA where he obtained a Master of Science Degree in Orthodontics. He holds a PhD degree in Oral Biology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece with a thesis entitled “The effect of human PDL fibroblasts aging on their response to mechanical forces”. His area of scientific interest is the “signal transduction pathways in bone biology and the impact of mechanical stimulation on the differentiation of the PDL fibroblasts”. Simultaneously, his clinical research focuses on the evaluation of orthodontic treatment outcomes derived from different treatment modalities as well as the investigation of specific treatment predictors. He is a clinical instructor and research scientist at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a research fellow at the Clinic for Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry of the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He has published and presented his research internationally. Dr Konstantonis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Since 1996 he is in private practice limited to Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics in Athens, Greece.
