Luis Antonio GARCIA-GUTIERREZ

Luis Antonio García Gutiérrez earned two PhDs in 2019: one in Electrical Engineering from University Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France) and another in Engineering from Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). Prior to these doctorates, he completed an MSc in Engineering, specializing in Electronic and Computer Engineering, at Universidad de los Andes in 2007, following his degree in Electronic Engineering from Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas (Bogotá, Colombia) in 2002.

After completing his doctoral studies, Luis undertook several postdoctoral appointments. In 2019, he conducted research at the Laboratoire d'Analyse et d'Architecture des Systèmes (LAAS) – CNRS in Toulouse, France; in 2021, he worked at the University of Corsica – CNRS UMR 6134 SPE (Laboratory of Sciences for the Environment) in Ajaccio, France; and in 2022, he carried out research at the Laboratoire Matériaux Optiques, Photonique et Systèmes (LMOPS) in Metz, France (affiliated with the University of Lorraine and CentraleSupélec).

Currently, Luis serves as an Attaché Temporaire d'Enseignement et de Recherche (ATER) at the University of Corsica Pascal Paoli, where he teaches in the Faculty of Science and Technology in Corte, France, and conducts research at the Laboratory of Sciences for the Environment (SPE) – CNRS at the Georges Peri Research Center in Ajaccio. Between 2023 and 2024, he also served as an ATER at the University of Lorraine – IUT Nancy Brabois and as a researcher at the Jean Lamour Institute (IJL – CNRS). In 2021, he was invited as a guest lecturer at the IUT of the University of Corsica, and from 2014 to 2015, he was a visiting researcher at the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics (IRI) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain.

Luis’s research interests include control systems for renewable energy (smart grids), fault-tolerant active control systems, system modeling, energy structures in physical systems, microgrid control, solar resource prediction, and energy management. For over two decades, he has been engaged in teaching and research in Colombia, collaborating with institutions such as Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá campus), Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, and Universidad de los Andes, while participating in national and international research projects in the fields of control, energy, and applied engineering.
