Abstract
The conditions governing the formation of hydrogen bonding involving transition metal atoms of the molecular, ion-molecular and ionic types in low polar media were found. IR and UV—Vis spectral characteristics of these bonds were determined. Similarities between the spectral properties of hydrogen bonds with a metal atom and with common organic bases as well as some particular characteristics of the former were established. The equilibrium between molecular (OH ⋯ M) and ionic (O − ⋯ [HM] + ) hydrogen-bonded complexes was investigated.
