Collapse of polymeric networks in a mixed solvent

Abstract
Abstract The phenomenon of collapse of polymeric networks has been studied theoretically for the case when it occurs in a mixed low molecular weight solvent. It is shown that collapse is accompanied by significant redistribution of the solvent in the collapsed network. In some cases in the mixed solvent reversed collapse of the network is also possible. Experimental study of the collapse of polyacrylamide gels in a mixed solvent confirms the conclusion on the redistribution of solvent in the collapsed phase.
