The different sequence of the stages of cycloaddition and rearrangement of imidazo[4,5-e]thiazolo[3,2-b]triazines into imidazo[4,5-e]thiazolo[2,3-c]triazines has opened up new possibilities in the directed synthesis of spirooxindoles.
