The laboratory is represented by the staff of the former Department of Silicate and Nanomaterials Technology. The main activities cover the development of new binders, glassy and ceramic materials based on silicates, oxides and refractory oxygen-free compounds, as well as their technology and production.

  1. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
  2. XRD
  3. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
  4. Synchronous thermal analysis
  5. Optical microscopy
  6. Chemical analysis
  7. Determination of porosity and density by hydrostatic method
  8. Determination of compressive and flexural strength
  9. Determination of thermal conductivity

Research directions

Porous glass composite materials

+
Research in the field of obtaining foam-glass-crystalline materials for structural and functional purposes based on natural raw materials. Development of resource-saving technology for the production of porous glass composites.

3D printing with ceramic and binder materials

+
3D printing with ceramic and binder materials
Work in the field of 3D printing of materials based on coarse-grained masses (mixtures of cement and loam, synthetic quartz binders with refractory fillers, etc. by Direct Ink Writing methods) and fine-grained masses (oxide ceramics of various compositions by Digital Light Processing is a new direction for the laboratory). Research of rheological characteristics of printing masses, design development of research and semi-industrial printers, research of new printing materials.

Ceramic proppants

+
Ceramic proppants
Research, development and improvement of compositions and technological modes of production of ceramic proppants for oil and gas production. Current areas of work: 1) synthesis of aluminosilicate proppants with low bulk density using man-made waste; 2) production of ceramics based on the anorthite crystalline phase.
