Laboratory of Photoactive compounds of the Research Institute of FOH SFU
Ozhogin, Ilya V
The laboratory was founded by Boris Sergeyevich Lukyanov (1948-2023) within the Department of Structure and Reactivity of Organic Compounds of the Research Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry of Rostov State University (now SFU). The main research area is the synthesis and investigation of the properties of photochromic compounds. Most of the work is devoted to establishing a connection between the structure and properties of indoline and benzoxazine-4-one spiropyrans. The method of synthesis of the latter was developed directly in our laboratory. In addition to numerous publications in highly rated scientific journals, the laboratory staff has obtained several patents, including for a device to protect night vision devices from optical interference. Students and undergraduates of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Southern Federal University and the Research Institute of the Faculty of Economics of the Southern Federal University are constantly involved in the work of the laboratory. Over the approximately 20-year history of the laboratory, eight PhD theses have been defended there.
