The Geophysical Data Laboratory serves as the World Data Center for Solar-Terrestrial Physics and the World Data Center for Solid Earth Physics. He is engaged in forecasting the locations of possible earthquakes and other issues of seismology.
- Collecting data from networks of observatories, the results of land and sea expeditions, satellite launches, special experiments, etc.
- Data management — analysis, quality control, systematization, organization of guaranteed long-term data storage.
- Reference and information support of archives and databases, creation of metadata.
