Bartosz Rymon Lipinski Von

Prof. Dr. von Rymon Lipinski completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich in 2007 with a thesis on the interactive 3D visualization of complex medical data sets. As part of his work at the Caesar Research Institute ("Center of Advanced European Studies and Research"), he was responsible as a software architect and project manager for the development of a component-based software system that was used as a technical platform for 3D surgical planning applications of the spin-off SiCAT GmbH & Co. In this context, he not only gained experience with the transfer of scientific results into practice, but also became familiar with the development processes in large companies (spin-off partner Sirona Dental Systems GmbH, formerly Siemens AG). After a further professional station in the software industry in a leading position as "Technical Product Head" for AI-supported full-text research at the US company Recommind Inc. (now OpenText Corporation), his professional focus shifted to the field of interactive media, also with reference to applied AI.

During his first professorship at the private university "Mediadesign Hochschule für Design und Informatik", he was responsible for the cross-site coordination of research activities in his later role as head of department. He was involved in setting up an internal university incubator and supervised several internationally successful spin-off companies (e.g. Mimimi Games GmbH, Aesir Interactive GmbH). In addition to initiating and participating in several industry cooperations, including the former "App Center" of BMW Group AG, Ravensburger GmbH and Metaio Augmented Reality GmbH (now Apple Inc.), he also supported the development and promotion of the Bavarian media industry as a member of the "Games" award committee of the FFF Bayern (supported by the Bavarian State Chancellery) and the IHK working group "Media".

Since 2014, Prof. von Rymon Lipinski supports the teaching and research activities of the Faculty of Computer Science at the Nuremberg Institute of Technology ("Technische Hochschule Nürnberg") in the areas of visual computing and knowledge engineering. He also heads the "IMTL" research laboratory, which focuses primarily on the research and development of interactive and cognitive media systems. Since the end of 2018, he is a member of the ZD.B network "Digitalization" and is active as a supervisor in the context of BayWiss joint doctorates in cooperation with the University of Würzburg. He has experience as an author of international scientific publications (e.g. IEEE Vis, IEEE CoG, CGI, Eurographics, ICIP, CVPR), patent applications and as a scientific and technical reviewer (IEEE, MICCAI, SPIE, Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung, Wissenschaftsrat). Since March 2023, he holds a research professorship, as part of the "High-Tech Agenda Bavaria".
