About

Dr. Andrei Zavadski is an interdisciplinary scholar, author, and editor living between Berlin, Dortmund, and Paris.

Born in Belarus in 1986, he holds a BA in area studies from Moscow State University of International Relations / MGIMO-University (2009), an MA in public history from Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences and Manchester University (2014), and a PhD in media and communication studies from Freie Universität Berlin (2020).

After completing his PhD, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Anthropological Research on Museums and Heritage (CARMAH), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and a fellow at the Leibniz-Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung Potsdam (ZZF), University of Potsdam.

He is currently a postdoctoral research associate at the Institute of Art and Material Culture, TU Dortmund University.

His research is situated at the intersections of memory studies, museum studies, public history, and media studies, with a focus on Eastern Europe.

He is also a co-founding editor of The February Journal (https://thefebruaryjournal.org/).
