Mustafizur Rahman is an environmental scientist with a focus on air pollution and environmental management in Bangladesh.

Education and Career

Rahman holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Science and Disaster Management from Noakhali Science and Technology University, which he completed in March 2022. He also has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in the same field from the same university, obtained in December 2018.

Rahman has been working as a Senior Executive (Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety - QEHS) at United Engineering and Power Services Limited (UEPSL) in Dhaka since January 2024. Before this, he served as an Executive at the same company from June 2022 to December 2023. Before that, he held a similar position at United Power Generation and Distribution Company Limited (UPGDCL) from October 2019 to June 2022.

Research Activities

Rahman's research interests lie in air quality management, particularly focusing on particulate matter concentration and CO2 emissions from power plants. He has authored and co-authored several research articles on these topics published in esteemed journals like "Data in Brief", "Environmental Pollution and Management", "Applied Environmental Research", "Scientific Reports", Journal of CO2 utilization, Discover Chemistry and "Journal of King Saud University - Science", etc.

Some of his notable works include:

CO2 emission controlling strategies- developed a new concept also known as WAR, published by the Journal of CO2 utilisation. A study on applying machine learning models to CO2 emissions, An assessment of particulate matter concentrations and their impact on public health. Research on human CYP1A1 protein and microplastics interaction and toxicity assessment. E-waste and healthcare waste generation and their impact on health and the environment.

At present, Rahman is working on a patent preparation for emission-controlling technology.

He also worked as a reviewer of MethodsX, Sustainability, Energy, and Scientific Reports journals, which are published by Elsevier, Springer Nature, MDPI, and Academia.
