About

Prof. Dr. Alphonce G. Kyessi is an urban planner, academician, researcher and consultant with more than 40 years of experience in the field of human settlements planning, development and management. He obtained his PhD degree from the Technical University of Dortmund in 2001. He was employed at Ardhi University for 25 years up to 2019 and currently offering part-time services to the same university. His research and consultancy interests focus on public policy; urban environmental planning, development and management; climate change, nature based solutions, housing; land regularisation; land servicing; infrastructure planning, development and management; community participation and urban agriculture. Prof. Kyessi has written more than hundred publications in terms of books, chapters in books, journal papers, and research and consultancy reports for local and the international fora. Apart from teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students, Prof. Kyessi has carried-out researches and consultancy assignments to the government, international agencies and the private sector including civil society organisations. Whilst Prof. Kyessi is registered urban planner with the Tanzania Town Planners’ Registration Board; he is also the Chairman of the Tanzania Association of Consultants.
