About

He has majored in mining engineering from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), a Master's and PhD degrees from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Full professor at the School of Mines of UFOP. With many years of previous experience in the industrial sector, he has skills in physical and physical-chemical methods of ore concentration and waste reuse, working mainly on the following topics: interfacial phenomena, process development in mineral technology, circuit design and sizing, mathematical modeling of processes, granular media dynamics, and development of mineral-based chemical processes. He has developed innovative processes including, for example: a process for zinc depletion from steel wastes; a bioactivated autocatalytic sintering process, a formulation of a new expansive agent for rock fracturing or concrete demolition, and a new process of heterogeneous biodiesel catalysis using mineral-based catalyst. At UFOP's School of Mines, he was head of the Mining Engineering Department and of the Graduate Program in Mineral Engineering (PPGEM/UFOP). From September 2021 to October 2024, he served as the coordinator of the Embrapii innovation unit "UFOP Escola de Minas," focusing on sustainable mining. In addition, he is a founding partner of Jornada Lúcida Editora and two companies linked to the mining sector.
