About

Nikolaos Statharakos is a psychiatry resident at the General Hospital of Thessaloniki “G.

Papanikolaou ”, a PhD candidate at the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of

Thessaloniki, and a trainee in Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapy at the Adult Mental Health Center Sykeon. His research focuses on death notification and its psychological and ethical impact on healthcare professionals. Mr. Statharakos has completed postgraduate studies in forensic medicine and forensic psychiatry, with a particular emphasis on traumatic grief following sudden or violent deaths in hospital settings, as well as in precision medicine, with a focus on neurodegenerative mechanisms in schizophrenia. His academic work bridges psychiatry and medical education, aiming to develop educational interventions and protocols that support healthcare professionals during the death notification process.
