About

Dr Carmela Leone is a Research Officer at the John Richards Centre for Rural Ageing Research in the La Trobe Rural Health School, La Trobe University.

Her work includes research into the agency of carers of people living with dementia in dementia pathway navigation, the agency of migrant aged care workers in building social resilience, and the adaptive capacity of rural and regional community organisations to provide social support to older people in disaster and extreme climate contexts. Her work also focuses on building rights-based dementia-inclusive communities and age-friendly environments.

Her PhD was part of the Webster Rural and Regional Dementia Care Project and explored the socio-spatial rights of people living with dementia and carers.
