About

Muhammad Yousuf is currently employed at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Iowa State University, Ames, IA, USA, as a graduate research assistant. He received his master’s degree from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, in 2024 and his bachelor's degree from Beihang University, Beijing, China, in 2019. Subsequently, he worked at the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation-BUAA as a research assistant (2018-2019). His research interests encompass various areas, including density functional theory (DFT), chemical kinetics, combustion chemistry, catalysis, heterogeneous catalysis, spray and combustion studies of fuels, environmental chemistry, thin films, and high entropy MXenes synthesis. Currently, his research focuses on the catalytic conversion of CH4 into valuable fuels, utilizing O2 and CO2 for direct methane to methanol conversion, and H2 production through water splitting. As of July 2025, he has published over 4 peer-reviewed papers and 1 book (9 book chapters). Additionally, he is a member of the Combustion Institute, Pittsburgh, USA.
