Пастрана Таня

Tania is a native of Colombia, South America. She received a medical degree from the Universidad de Caldas, Colombia, a degree in sociology, social anthropology and social psychology from the University of Munich in Germany and a Doctorate in Medical Anthropology and Psychosomatic from the University of Munich and the Max Planck Institute. Since 2007, Tania has been working as Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Palliative Medicine at the University Hospital RWTH Aachen in Germany. ‎She was elected as President of the Latin American Association for Palliative Care (ALCP) 2016 – 2018 and 2018 – 2020. She is author of several publications about the situation of palliative care in Latin America including the Atlas of Palliative Care in Latin America. She serves as research adviser to the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC), a global membership organization dedicated to the development of palliative care. Since 2020, Tania is cochair of the Reference Group for Primary Palliative Care at the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC). Tania is also involved in different projects for developing and advancing palliative care as integration of palliative care in medical education, improvement of availability of opioids, among others.
