About
Professor Nandakumar Kalarikkal is the Senior Professor of School of Pure and Applied Physics and Director-in-Charge of School of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. His contributions to the fields of nano multiferroics, nanosemiconductors, nanophosphors, nanocomposites, nano ferroelectrics, nanoferrites, nanomedicine, nanosensors, ion beam irradiation effects and phase transitions, climate change, water, laser plasma and application, and computational modeling and simulation have earned him acclaim on a national and international scale. The development of new materials for the industrial, aerospace, habitation, and biomedical sectors has been significantly impacted by Dr. Kalarikkal's revolutionary discoveries in polymer nanocomposites processing and applications, EMI shielding, hybrid nanostructures for biomedical applications, inorganic-organic multifunctional traits, Nano Multiferroics, energy harvesting and storage, Nano-Drug delivery, and tissue engineering. Dr. Kalarikkal serves as the principal investigator for numerous international collaborative projects under the SPARC scheme funded by the MHRD-Govt. of India, CEFIPRA Scheme, Indo-Serbian Project, International Research Project (IRP)-CNRS Scheme, France, Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development supported projects, projects under the International Emerging Actions-CNRS Scheme, France, BRICS scheme with Russia, China, and India, Swedish Research Link Grant(completed), and the PICS scheme, France(completed). In addition, he is actively involved in national initiatives run by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), Core Research Grant Scheme, BRNS/BRFST-DAE, DST-Nano Mission, UGC-DAE-CSR, Kolkata Centre Project(2), DRDO project, Ministry of Defence-Govt. of India, Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT, and Scheme for Transformational and Advanced Research in Sciences (STARS) funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). Prof. Kalarikkal has published over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and reviews and is also the inventor of five patents. His H index is 43, with about 6834 citations, and he has supervised 29 doctoral theses. Prof. Kalarikkal has given over 30 plenary, keynote, or invited lectures at national and international conferences across several nations. In the field of nanocomposites engineering and technological utilization, he has designed a well-established facility center at Mahatma Gandhi University.
