About

Kaidong Guo is a sociologist whose research examines childhood, family life and intergenerational care in rural China. His work draws on long-term ethnographic fieldwork to explore how structural inequality, migration and slow violence shape the everyday lives of children and families.

He completed his PhD in Sociology at University College London with no corrections. His research has been published in journals including The British Journal of Sociology, Children & Society and Children’s Geographies, and he is the author of a forthcoming book chapter with UCL Press. He is currently preparing a monograph based on his doctoral fieldwork.

Kaidong has served as a Research Assistant on the UK–China project Tackling Ethical Challenges in Research with Children, and he is an Associate Editor of the “Reimagining Childhood Studies” platform. He regularly reviews for international journals such as British Educational Research Journal, Children and Society, Children’s Geographies, Exceptional Children, Journal of Social Work and Journal of Family Studies.

He has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at UCL, delivering seminars in sociology and ethnography and guest lectures across UK universities.
