Laboratory of Stereochemistry of Sorption Processes

Synthesis, study of the structure and properties of super-crosslinked polymer sorbents. Formulated back in 1969, the general concept of producing super-crosslinked polymer meshes is to create a rigid openwork three-dimensional structure in the presence of a thermodynamically good solvent. Super-stitched polystyrene became such the first nanoporous polymer. It is characterized by a huge specific surface area, the ability to swell in any liquid media, and a unique sorption activity. Together with Purolite (UK), the production of a series of polystyrene sorbents of a new generation has been organized. They are widely used to purify natural and industrial waters, isolate valuable components, concentrate trace elements in analytical chemistry, and remove toxins from the blood in medicine. They can be used for the separation of salts and acids in hydrometallurgy and metalworking. At the molecular level, the first super-stitched nanocubes capable of regular self-assembly have been obtained. Chiral liquid chromatography. A method of ligand-bound chromatography of enantiomers has been proposed, which for the first time made it possible to quantitatively separate the enantiomers of amino acids, oxyacids and other important compounds capable of forming complexes with copper ions. In the practice of enantiomeric analysis, such "Davankov columns" (Regis, USA) were widely used. The laboratory has established enantiomeric analysis of a wide range of organic compounds using chiral gas and liquid chromatography. Asymmetric metal complex catalysis. More than 100 new chiral ligands of phosphite and amidophosphite types have been synthesized, providing high enantiomeric yield and conversion in a number of important reactions catalyzed by metal complexes (hydrogenation, allyl alkylation, amination, sulfination, deracemization). Reactions in supercritical carbon dioxide are particularly promising.
