About
Sónia Brito Costa, has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master of Clinical and Health Psychology and a PhD in Psychology. She holds a Post-Doctorate in Psychology (University of Aveiro). She is a postgraduate in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (Portuguese Association of Behavioral Therapies).
She holds the Higher Course of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra and the Center for Postgraduate Studies in Legal Medical of the National Institute of Legal Medical and Forensic Sciences)-INMLCF. - Expert in legal medicine and forensic sciences.
She is qualified with the Specialization Course in Health Ethics by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra.
She is a trainer registered with the National Training Qualification Center (CNQF) – National Training Scholarship- Institute of Employment and Vocational Training.
She is enabled with the Training Course of Qualified Agents who act in Prevention, Awareness and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and in Support of Victims.
She holds the Training Course of Trainers in Gender Equality.
Honoured with the Specialist in Clinical and Health Psychology and with the Advanced Specialist of Justice Psychology by the Order of Portuguese Psychologists.
Author and co-author of half a hundred articles of national and international circulation has several communications and participations in congresses, seminars, workshops, working sessions and proceedings in congress reports.
She was a guest Auxiliary Researcher at the Institute of Nuclear Sciences Applied to Health at the University of Coimbra and was a founding member and resident researcher of the Centre for Neurosciences and Cellular Biology (CNBC) at Tiradentes University (UNIT) – Brazil.
She is a researcher and a member of the Scientific Council of the Agency for the Prevention of Trauma and Violation of Human Rights of the Hospital and University Centre of Coimbra (APTVDH) at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra.
She coordinates the Human Potential Development Centre of the Institute of Applied Research (I2A) of Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra
She implemented and coordinated the Employability Observatory (OEIPC) between 2016 and 2020.
She is a lecturer at the Higher School of Education of Coimbra and a researcher at the Institute of Applied Research (I2A) at the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (IPC).
He was President of the IPC Ethics Committee from May 2019 to December 2021. She was Vice-President of the IPC Ethics Committee from 2017 to 2019.
She coordinates the 1st edition of the Specialization Course Violence(s): from Perception to Intervention starting in the academic year 2018 (IPC).
She is an Acting Member of the Order of Portuguese Psychologists, AAAS: American Association for Advancement of Science, Member of INFAD: International Association of Psychology of the Child, Adolescence, Major and Disability. She is an academic editor for PlosOne. She is an Ad-hoc Guest Editorial Advisor to Elsevier Publisher.
