Ashutosh Sharma
About
Dr. Ashutosh Sharma (M.Sc., M.Phil., PGDAEM, Ph.D.) is a dedicated researcher working in the area of Plant Sciences. His main areas of specialization are Plant-microbe interaction, Plant Biotechnology and Stress biology. He has qualified GATE Life Science (Percentile score 99.18), CSIR-UGC NET-LS, CSIR-UGC-NET-JRF and ICAR-NET. He has received his PhD degree in accordance with UGC 2009 regulations from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He has more than 90 publications (research papers, review articles and book chapters) and in the Journals/Books of the International repute. Some of them to mention are Biotechnology Advances, Chemosphere, Frontiers in Microbiology, Plant and Soil, Journal of Pest Science, Plant Disease, Annals of Applied Biology and Journal of Applied Microbiology, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Journal of Crop Health etc. He is also the recipient of the Young Scientist Award by the Punjab Academy of Sciences for his work entitled ‘Development of a sensitive PCR based detection method of Alternaria alternata infecting Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal, a high value medicinal plant and its possible use in quality control of herbal drugs thereof’. He has three GenBank nucleotide sequence contributions and three MTCC microbial type culture collection contributions to his credit. He has participated in many national and International conferences and has more than 11 years of teaching experience both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has received two major research project grants from DST-SERB, Govt of India and CSIR, Govt. of India as Co-Principal Investigator and three minor research project grants funded by DAV college management committee as the Principal Investigator/Co-Principal Investigator. One of his research proposals, entitled ‘Transcriptome based differential gene expression analysis of salt responsive genes in salt stress treated and control horsegram seedlings’ was short-listed for assistance by 2017 SGRF genomics project grant (http://www.sgrf.org/grants.php). One student has completed her PhD under his supervision.
