Раджапаксе Джанака П

Janaka Rajapakse is an Associate Professor at the Graduate Institute of Animation and Film Art, Tainan National University of the Arts, Taiwan. He has been an Academic Collaboration Advisor at Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. He is also a visiting scholar at the Department of Media Engineering, The Graduate School of Engineering, Tokyo Polytechnic University of Japan.  He was an Assistant Professor in the CG Application Laboratory, at the Graduate School of Engineering, and a special researcher at the Center for Hyper Media Research, at Tokyo Polytechnic University, Japan.  He received his B.Sc. degree in computer science from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He won the Japanese Government Scholarship for his higher studies in Japan. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2005 and 2008. His research interests include computer animations, AR/VR/XR, AI, haptic interfaces, motion capture techniques, computer games, computer graphics, 3D printing, interactive media, and Kansei engineering. Prof. Rajapakse is the author or co-author of over eighty academic publications. He has been a keynote and invited speaker at numerous international conferences and events. He is a member of the Society for Art and Science, Motion Capture Society (MCS), Association of AISIA NETWORK BEYOND DESIGN, ASIAGRAPH Association, IEEE, and SIG-Design Creativity.  

He has also been a judge of several international and local competitions including the Taichung International Animation Festival (TIAF2021), ASIAGRAPH CG ART Gallery,  Reallusion Awards, KT- Award, and Hsin-Yi Children's Animation Awards. He recently held several solo and group exhibitions in Museum Fünf Kontinente, Munich, Germany; Ink Hedong Art Museum, Shanxi, China; Dream Forest Gallery, Seoul, South Korea; Chih Shang Gallery, Kaohsiung Cultural Center, Taiwan; Kyoto University of Art and Design, Galerie Aube, Kyoto, Japan; Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Tianjin, China; National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), Taipei, Taiwan;  Seogwipo Art Center, Jeju Island, South Korea; Faculty of Fine and Applied Art, Burapha University, Chonburi, Thailand; Donghua University, Shanghai, China; Sangsang Talk Talk Museum, Dream Forest Art Center, Seoul, South Korea. Prof. Rajapakse received the "Art International Award" 芸術国際賞 from the Japan Information and Culturology Society in December 2016.
