Agata D Misiaszek
About
Agata D. Misiaszek is a molecular biologist, currently performing her post-doctoral research as an EMBO Fellow in the group of Jeffrey A. Chao at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) in Basel, Switzerland. She specializes in live-cell single-molecule imaging which she uses to study translation regulation in her project titled "Characterizing translation dynamics of 5′ TOP mRNAs in health and diseases". Agata trained as a structural biologist with a special focus on cryo-electron microscopy. She completed her PhD studies in the group of Christoph W. Muller at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany. Her thesis entitled "Structural studies of the human RNA polymerase I and the role of human RNA polymerase I and III in diseases" earned a “summa cum laude” distinction. Previously, Agata pursued her undergraduate studies in molecular biology at the University of Edinburgh, completing her thesis in the group of Julie Welburn, with a year abroad at Uppsala University, where she worked in the group of Lynn Kamerlin.
