Le Le Khanh Chau

Khanh Chau Le is a senior researcher at Ton Duc Thang University. Until 2021 he was an extraordinary professor of mechanics at the RuhrUniversity Bochum. From 2009 until 2017 he was a flying faculty memberand Co-Director of the Master Programme in Computational Engineering atthe Vietnamese German University. From 2018 until 2021 he was a fullprofessor and a head of the Materials Mechanics Research Group at theTon Duc Thang University. He was a visiting professor at EcolePolytechnique (Palaiseau, France) and spent several research stays atWayne State University (Detroit, USA). He is an associate editor of theVietnam Journal of Mechanics and a member of editorial boards of threeinternational journals in mechanics (International Journal ofPlasticity, Archive of Applied Mechanics, Mathematics and Mechanics ofSolids) and serves as a reviewer of various international journals. Heis the scientific supervisor of 11 PhD students and 48 Master students.   His first scientific results relate to applications of thevariational-asymptotic method in the theory of low- and high-frequencyvibrations of elastic shells, plates, and rods. He developed also thetheories of low- and high-frequency vibrations of piezoelectric shells,plates, and rods. Variational-asymptotic method and its applications inthe theory of vibrations of shells, plates, and rods was summarized inhis monograph “Vibrations of shells and rods”, Berlin, Springer Verlag,1999. He is the author of two other books entitled "Introduction toMicromechanics" (first and second editions) and "Energy Methods inDynamics" (first and second editions).    Dr. Le’s recentresearch interests are in the field of dynamics of smart andfunctionally graded structures, nonlinear vibration and wavepropagation, fracture mechanics, crystal plasticity, micromechanics, andthermodynamic dislocation theory. His results in these areas arepresented in leading scientific journals and at various conferences(about 120 publications). According to Google Scholar the total numberof citations of his publications is 2305 which corresponds to the h-index of 28 and i-10 index of 61.
