Edyta Mazur
About
Edyta is a biotechnologist. In the area of analytical and applied biotechnology, she gained her qualifications at The University of Agriculture in Kraków and Universität für Bodenkultur in Vienna. In 2022 she received her PhD in natural science.
She has gained experience in teamwork, scientific communication, and writing grant applications. Edyta increased her knowledge and experience during her research internships at Duke University, Senckenbergmuseum, Université de Rennes, Natural History Museum, and Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Her researches were financed by the National Science Center in Poland, Erasmus+, 2023 French Government Scholarship Program – Scientific High Level Visiting Fellowships (SSHN), Synthesys+, Visegrad Fellowship Program, Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. Additionally, Edyta took part in EMBO-organized courses in 2023 and 2024 to advance her knowledge of computational molecular evolution and genomic analysis. She has actively contributed to interdisciplinary teams, fostering an atmosphere of open communication and mutual respect. Her ability to work harmoniously with scientists, researchers, and professionals from diverse backgrounds has resulted in the successful execution of numerous projects. Securing funding is a crucial aspect of advancing scientific research. Edyta has extensive experience preparing and managing grant applications, with a proven track record of securing resources for groundbreaking projects. She understands the intricacies of grant proposal development, from identifying funding opportunities to crafting compelling narratives that demonstrate the potential impact of research.
Edyta has also been involved in local government activities for doctoral students and young researchers. Currently, she is a member of the Young Researchers Council in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in the Republic of Poland in Warsaw. She has held also the following positions: Vice-chair of the Public Relations Committee in The National Representation of Ph.D. Candidates, Secretary and after Chairperson of The Doctoral Candidates Council of Doctoral Study of Natural Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków and the Doctoral School of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (2 cadences), Chairperson of the Union of Doctoral Candidates at Cracow Universities. She co-organizes job fairs for students, PhD candidates, and young scientists. Effective science communication is essential to bridge the gap between researchers and the wider public. Edyta has a strong track record of translating complex scientific concepts into easily understandable language for various audiences. Whether through written articles, presentations, or public speaking engagements, she committed to making science accessible and engaging for all. She also works with student and doctoral interns. She is a mentor in the 2nd Polonium Mentoring Programme. In addition to her professional endeavors, she is passionate about fostering a culture of scientific curiosity and innovation. For her collaboration, effective communication, and strategic grant acquisition are key pillars in propelling scientific discovery forward.
She is looking forward to continuing her journey in the world of science, leveraging skills and experiences to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of knowledge.
