About

I am a political anthropologist and sociologist interested in the intersection of international migration, race and ethnicity, national identities, and the state, with a focus on Latin America. My research agenda contributes to studies on ethnoracial classification, political mobilization, social integration, and legal recognition, and my work has been published in Ethnic and Racial Studies, International Migration Review, and Latin American Research Review, among other journals.

I received my Ph.D in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. I also hold an M.A. in Sociology from UC Berkeley, an M.A. in Socio-cultural Anthropology from Columbia University, and a B.A. in Social Anthropology from the Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia (ENAH, Mexico).

I am an Assistant Professor at the Tarapacá University Department of Education and a Principal Investigator at the MIGRA Millennium Nucleus.
