Jeremy D Shearman

Jeremy Shearman is a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust. He has a career-long interest in haemochromatosis. He was intimately involved in the UK’s positional cloning strategy looking for the gene responsible for this common condition culminating in the award of his DPhil from the University of Oxford in 1997. As a consultant he has continued to work with colleagues and patients to address unwarranted variation in care. Since 2021 he has chaired the BSG/BASL haemochromatosis Special Interest Group. He has recently been awarded a West Midlands Clinical Research Network scholarship to pursue further research in iron overload disorders.
