The research is conducted in several blocks: Fish behavior in natural and experimental conditions; Mechanisms of trophic differentiation in benthic fish; Feeding behavior of fish; Dynamics of fish abundance in freshwater and marine waters of Russia and neighboring countries; Behavior and distribution of fish in natural conditions; evolutionary biology, sympatric speciation, diversification, adaptive radiation of fish; molecular phylogeny, phylogeography, morphology and systematics of freshwater lampreys and fishes; fauna and biodiversity, protection of rare and endangered pisciformes and fishes.
