Ingo Ott studied pharmacy at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and received a license as a pharmacist in 2000. He obtained a doctoral degree from the Institute of Pharmacy at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, in 2004 and performed postdoctoral studies at the same institute as well as at the Key Laboratory of Chemical Biology at East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai, China. In 2009 Ingo Ott was appointed Professor of Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany. His research topics are inorganic medicinal chemistry, bioorganometallic chemistry and bioinorganic chemistry, with a focus on novel anticancer and anti-infective drug candidates. The results to date are documented in more than 200 publications, review articles, book chapters, and patents. In 2011 he received the Innovation Award for Medicinal / Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the German Pharmaceutical and Chemical Societies (DPhG and GDCh) and in 2025 the Elsevier Award for Outstanding Achievements in Bioorganometallic Chemistry. From 2019 to 2024 Ingo Ott had been speaker of the Lower Saxony doctoral program "Drug Discovery and Cheminformatics for New Anti-Infectives (iCA)". In 2023 he served as chair of the "International Symposium on Bioorganometallic Chemistry (ISBOMC)" that was held in Braunschweig.
