Роча-Гутьеррес Кармен

Carmen Raquel Rocha Gutierrez is a Faculty Research Professor in the Department of Metallurgical, Materials, and Biomedical Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Her research focuses on additive manufacturing of metals and ceramics, with emphasis on feedstock development, debinding and sintering strategies, microstructural characterization, and structure–property–performance relationships.

Her work includes fused filament fabrication of copper-based composites for thermal and electrical applications, as well as binder jetting and vat photopolymerization of advanced ceramics for aerospace, energy, and extreme-environment applications. She has extensive experience in materials characterization techniques, including SEM/EDS, XRD, thermal analysis, mechanical testing, and thermal/electrical conductivity measurements.

In addition to her research activities, she is actively involved in student mentorship, international collaboration, and recruitment efforts aimed at broadening participation in engineering and materials science, including outreach and recruiting activities with institutions in Latin America.
