Graduate in Geology by do Rio Grande do Sul Federal University, Brazil (1980), MSc in Geology by de Ouro Preto Federal University, Brazil (1985) and PhD in Mineralogy and Petrology by Uppsala University, Sweden (1996). Worked 9 years in the exploration and reservoir areas, as well as in the research center of Petrobras. Since 1990 Professor of Rio Grande do Sul Federal University, teaching, supervising, and researching in collaboration with exploration companies and official organizations, on Sedimentary Petrology, Diagenesis and Provenance of petroleum reservoirs and associated rocks, as well as on computer systems for rock characterization and interpretation
