Latha Marasamy
About
Latha Marasamy is a research professor at the Faculty of Chemistry-Energy Science Program at Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) in Mexico, where she leads a diverse team of international students and researchers with great passion. With a profound dedication to advancing renewable energy, her primary focus lies in the development of cutting-edge solar cell technologies. Latha's academic journey began with a Master of Science in Physics from PSG College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore, India, in 2012. Fueled by an ambition to explore the forefront of scientific innovation, she pursued a Doctor of Science in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Cinvestav, Mexico, completing her degree in 2017. She then gained two years of postdoctoral experience at UAQ under the prestigious SENER-CONAHCYT grant. At UAQ, Latha spearheads research initiatives centered on the development of second and third-generation solar cells. Her mission focuses on advancing renewable energy technologies through the enhancement of these solar cells, which encompass materials such as CdTe, CIGS, emerging chalcogenide perovskites, lead-free FASnI3 perovskites, quaternary chalcogenides of I2-II-IV-VI4, and hybrid solar cells. She works with an array of materials, including CdTe, CIGSe, CdS, amino-functionalized MOFs, graphitic carbon nitride, ABX3 chalcogenide perovskites, antimony-based Sb2Se3, Sb2(S,Se)3, CuSb(S,Se)2, metal oxides, MXenes, ferrites, and plasmonic metal nitrides and borides. By employing SCAPS-1D theoretical simulations, Latha investigates how these innovative materials affect solar cell performance, thus contributing to the advancement of renewable energy technologies. Latha’s exceptional contributions to her field are reflected in her impressive publication record, with over 55 articles in peer-reviewed journals indexed by JCR from reputable publishers such as ACS, RSC, Wiley, Elsevier, and Springer Nature. Additionally, she actively engages with the scientific community, having presented her research at more than 50 national and international conferences. Furthermore, she is an editorial board member and guest editor for several JCR-indexed Journals. Latha's significant contributions to research have been widely recognized. She has been a member of the System of National Researchers (SNI) since 2017, reflecting her impactful work in science. In 2021, she achieved SNI Level 1, a testament to her dedication to research excellence. Additionally, Latha has acted as an evaluator for the CONAHCYT projects, allowing her to apply her expertise in evaluating and shaping research initiatives.
