Александрович Алексей Александрович

Alexey Lyubushin, was born in town Belogorsk, USSR, 1954, citizen of Russia. In 1977 he graduated from the Moscow Physical Technical Institute. In 1977-1984 he worked at the Institute of Problems for Mechanics, Ac.Sci.,USSR. In 1981 he defended the thesis for Candidate degree (Ph.D.) in numerical methods of optimal control and its application to flight dynamics problems. From 1984 up to now he is working in the Institute of Physics of the Earth, Russian Ac.Sci. as a senior (1984), leading (1997), chief (1998) research scientist and as head of laboratory (2013). In 1996 he defended a Dr.Sci. in geophysics on using of multidimensional signal processing and mathematical statistics for complex geophysical monitoring systems data analysis. Since 1997 he is a professor of Russian State Geological Prospecting University, Department of High Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling. Research interests include: multidimensional signal processing, wavelet analysis, point process statistics, geophysical monitoring, earthquake prediction, seismic hazard assessment, stochastic climate models.

The main scientific achievement of A.A. Lyubushin for the period 20010-2015 is the development and realization of a new method of an estimation of seismic danger based on construction in a moving time window of maps of multi-fractal properties of low-frequency seismic noise by the data from broadband seismic stations networks covering seismically active region. These methods after applying to the data from network F-net in Japan have allocated correctly the region of mega-earthquake of March 11, 2011. The forecast of catastrophe, at first with an estimation of magnitude only (middle of 2008), and then with a lower estimate of time (middle of 2010) was beforehand published in a series of articles and theses at the Russian and international conferences (general number - 10). Subsequently, on a basis of more detailed development of these representations, the general method of a dynamic estimation of seismic danger based on construction in a moving time window of maps of distribution on space statistical and multi-fractal properties of low-frequency seismic noise by the data from networks of broadband seismic stations covering seismically active region was developed. As the statistics which allow to allocate the regions with the increased danger, are offered to use width of the multi-fractal singularity spectrum support width, minimum normalized entropy of distribution of squared orthogonal wavelet coefficients, smoothness index (the number of vanishing moments of optimal wavelet), index of linear predictability of the waveforms of seismic noise, and also map of linear combinations of these characteristics of noise.
