About
Dr. Romain Peretti is a CNRS research fellow at IEMN with expertise in THz biophotonics. His research focuses on developing novel THz-based tools and techniques for applications in biology and medicine. He is particularly interested in utilizing THz spectroscopy to study protein structure and dynamics, as well as exploring the potential of THz technology for diagnostic purposes.
Dr. Peretti obtained his PhD in fiber optic spectroscopy from the ILM institute of université Lyon 1 in Lyon, France. He subsequently pursued research in photonic crystals at the INL institute and quantum cascade lasers at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. These experiences led him to develop a strong interest in THz biophotonics, which has become his primary focus.
In 2016, Dr. Peretti joined IEMN with the support of the Hauts-de-France region and the Métropole Européenne de Lille. His contributions to the field were recognized with his recruitment to the CNRS in 2018, the "Habilitation à diriger les recherches" in 2023 and the ERC consolidator grant the same year. He also serving as an associate editor for the Optics Express journal since 2020 and optica senior member from 2021.
