About
Innovative biological sciences researcher with more than seven years of experience in the design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of research projects. Key expertise includes: handling in vivo models, cell culture, western blotting, RT-PCR, ELISA, ChIP assay, CO-IP, Compusyn (Quantitation of synergism), flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, IHC, ICC, in silico docking, clonogenicity, molecular mechanisms of cancer cell resistant, soft agar assay for anchorage-independent growth, scratch assay, migration/invasion for studies of cancer metastasis and aggressiveness.
I did my PhD in biological sciences at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, India. My thesis and research is “To investigate the role of bisphenol A on prostate cancer metastasis." My doctoral research training provided an opportunity to explore the role of EDCs in hormone-dependent prostate cancer. In this project, we explore the connection of EDCs with androgen receptor-dependent epithelial to mesenchymal transition and epigenetic machinery (such as DNMT1, HDAC1, and biology of miRNAs) in prostate cancer metastasis and aggressiveness. I have hands-on experience in handling in vivo models, in vitro cell culture, western blotting, ELISA, ChIP assay, flow cytometry, and other molecular biology techniques. In addition to my Ph.D. work, I have been involved in other projects in the group for studies on the role of phytochemicals (Intricatinol) in combination with classical chemotherapeutic drugs. During Ph.D., I have trained more than 12 postgraduate students. After completing of PhD, Currently, I am currently working as a Senior postdoctoral fellow (Received the prestigious ICMR-Research Associateship) in the School of Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Mandi, HP, India. My project is entitled “Role of the immunomodulatory potential of bioactive phytochemicals from T. cordifolia”. Importantly, it investigates the immunomodulating potential of the bioactive analog of T. cordifolia. In this project, I am predicting anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory targets of T. cordifolia via network pharmacology, molecular docking, MD simulations, and experimental validation.
With an extensive background in toxicology, molecular biology, cancer biology, and endocrinology, I believe that I would bring valuable interdisciplinary skills and perspectives to the biology projects.
