The research has been developed in the area of Human Geography and Tourism, with particular reference to questions of Regional Geography and Social Geography, Leisure, Heritage and aCUltural Tourism, highlighting those concerned with modes of consumption and the movements related to them, with prominence being given to urban regions as the preferred arenas of analysis.

At the same time, research will be conducted on the themes of businesses and services. We shall focus on the aspect related to how these can enhance the quality of life of the local people, and how they influence land use planning, dependent as they are on planning strategy. Therefore, the questions of the quality of urban life and how people perceive the space they live in (their regions) and represent it are important aspects of scientific activity.

In the last years, the main research turned to Leisure and Heritage areas with a special focus on the questions of development, sustainability and cultural landscapes. This way is important to concepts like territorial sustainability, endogenous resources, local development and territorial cohesion, assumed as core proposals for tourism, leisure and heritage studies. The core of the research focuses on issues of tourism development, rural tourism, urban tourism, wine tourism and gastronomy, urban studies e regional development.

The sphere of specialization lies within the areas of Social and Economic Geography and Regional Geography. Other spheres can be distinguished within these rather general ones, like migration; consumption; daily mobility, urban regions and sustainable territoriality. Contemporary consumption, indeed, has emerged as a way of expressing the growing interest in the themes of social and cultural geography, like leisure and quality of life. One core scientific interest and favoured area of research is the role of urban/rural relations and its importance in the management of the territory, highlighting the relationship between individual consumers and the institutions and places in which they live their daily lives (family, neighborhood, community, social groups and work). These relations are materialized in trajectories, dualities and identities, expressing the integration of the thinking global and acting local.

- Able to work with varied computer software, especially that related to spreadsheets, databases and graphic and cartographic layouts.

- Experience in structuring and organizing surveys.

- Experience in managing working groups.

- Experience in the organization of meetings and congresses.

Current research interests depend directly on the area of scientific activity. These can be identified more concretely, pointing out some topics that may be regarded as being of greater interest in research. Such as:

- leisure;

- people’s quality of life and constraints of urban living on this quality of life;

- the role of women in production and social reproduction;

- the perception and representation of the area, valuing symbolism in the daily orientation of individuals;

- urban, suburban and local rural spatial complementarity;

- socio-economic tertiarization;

- territorial sustainability;

- endogenous resources;

- local development;

- territorial cohesion;

- tourism development;

- rural tourism;

- urban tourism;

- wine tourism and gastronomy.
