Christina Nannou
About
Dr. Christina Nannou is an Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), based in Kavala, Greece. Originally from Salamina, Greece, she earned her BSc, MSc, and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Ioannina. Her PhD thesis was titled “Modern analytical methods for the determination of pesticide and pharmaceutical residues in natural waters and sediments.” She subsequently conducted her post-doctoral research at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), funded by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), focusing on both target and non-target analysis of emerging contaminants in environmental matrices.
As part of her academic development, she undertook pre-doctoral research stays at the European Union Reference Laboratory for Fruit and Vegetables in Almeria, Spain (2018), and at the Catalan Institute for Water Research in Girona, Spain (2013), both funded through research mobility programs.
Her current research focuses on the development, validation, and application of High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS)-based techniques for the detection and impact assessment of emerging contaminants in environmental, food, and biological matrices. She also specializes in the identification of transformation products, Advanced Oxidation Processes for water treatment, chemometrics, and quality management systems.
Dr. Nannou has published 38 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact scientific journals (average Impact Factor: 8.4), has over 1,360 citations (h-index: 21), and has contributed to two chapters in international scientific books. She has delivered more than 80 oral and poster presentations at national and international conferences, holds one patent, and has participated in 13 national and European research projects. She serves as a reviewer for over 30 scientific journals published by Elsevier, Springer, Taylor & Francis, MDPI, and Wiley, and has acted as Guest Editor for two Special Issues.
She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Analytical Chemistry, Bioanalytical Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, Advanced Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and Technology, and Quality Management Systems.
