About

I specialize in ophthalmic research, focusing on stem cells, regenerative medicine, developmental biology, and genetic engineering of the human retina. My primary goal is to address retinal degeneration using a multifaceted approach integrating advanced techniques. I work with human pluripotent stem cells, including induced pluripotent and embryonic stem cells, and leverage organoid models, CRISPR gene editing, RPE transplantation, and 3-D nanofibrous scaffolding. By combining these state-of-the-art technologies, I aim to develop effective solutions for vision loss.

My research has yielded significant advancements in the field. I contributed to developing a unique retinal organoid model crucial for studying retinal function and disease mechanisms. My investigations extend to exploring axon pathfinding of retinal ganglion cells and optimizing cell patterning through stem cell applications. Notably, I have achieved the generation of large genomic deletions (15 kbp) using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Through these efforts, I am committed to making impactful contributions to ophthalmic research and advancing our understanding of inherited retinal degeneration.
