Veterinarian whose career blends hands‑on herd health with veterinary research and technical leadership in animal vaccine innovation.
He earned a BSc in Cellular & Molecular Biology from the University of Paris VII in 2001, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Liège in 2007, followed by a Master of Science in Veterinary Medicine (Production Animal Clinical Sciences) in 2008. He then completed a specialized clinical residency (2008–09) and certification in milking machine quality control standards.
From 2008 to 2016, Dr Theron served as an Assistant clinician‑Researcher at ULg’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ruminant & Swine Clinic. During his PhD research, he focused on mastitis risk factors in Wallonian dairy herds, contributing to epidemiological studies and mid‑infrared phenotyping. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, several presented via ULg’s ORBi.
In 2016, he joined HIPRA Benelux, initially as Technical & Marketing Manager for vaccines (2016–2020), advancing to Business Unit Manager – Ruminants (Belgium & Luxembourg) in 2020
Dr Theron co-founded RumeXperts in 2017 — a Liège-born veterinary CRO specializing in data-driven herd health. Since September 2022, he serves as Chief Technology Officer, driving integration of veterinary AI, large-scale clinical trials, and production‑animal data science. He also co-founded AIHERD in 2018, a french startup in Animal health and husbandery AI visual recognition tool.
He has played leadership roles in professional bodies: member of the Commission Milk Quality of SNGTV (France, 2008–2016), founding member of Veterinary network - Objective Milk (Belgium, 2008), Faculty Council member at ULg (2005–2016), member of the Belgian OSaM udder-health observatory (since 2008), and President of the French–Belgian Society for Buiatrics (2022-2025), Secretary (2015-2022; 2025-)
Research & innovation interests: bovine udder health and epidemiology, Calf health and immunity, predictive herd-health using AI, prophylactic vaccination strategies, antimicrobial stewardship, and the application of clinical and infrared phenotyping in herd health management.
