Вэл Джонатан Пулидо

I am a university lecturer and researcher specializing in the Didactics of Experimental Sciences at the University of Zaragoza. With a multidisciplinary background, I hold a degree in Biology, a Master’s in Biodiversity: Conservation and Evolution, and a PhD in Environmental Sciences. My academic journey has also been enriched by a Master’s in Teacher Training, focusing on Secondary Education in Biology and Geology. I am currently broadening my expertise in science education through advanced studies in Didactics.

Research and Publications

My research spans environmental sciences, ecological impacts of global change, paleontology, and science education. I have authored over 15 articles in high-impact journals indexed in JCR and SCOPUS, addressing topics such as the effects of emerging pollutants on aquatic ecosystems, ecotoxicology, and sustainable resource management. My work has been conducted in collaboration with leading institutions. I have also contributed to interdisciplinary projects that integrate environmental sciences into educational and societal contexts.

Science Communication and Public Engagement

As President and Scientific Director of the FACOPS Foundation, I have coordinated multiple science communication initiatives. These include exhibitions and educational programs focused on paleontology, paleobiology, and the history of life on Earth. Collaborating with major institutions like Cosmocaixa, the Fundación Dinópolis, Valencia Science museum and other renowned science museums across Spain, I aim to make complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging for diverse audiences. My work emphasizes the connection between Earth's history, biodiversity, and contemporary sustainability challenges.

International Experience

My international background includes research at the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research in South Dakota, USA, and a collaboration with the Fundación Dinópolis in Colorado, USA. These experiences focused on fossil excavation and reconstruction, particularly of dinosaurs, and have significantly contributed to my expertise in science communication and education.

Teaching and Academic Contributions

I have extensive teaching experience at both secondary and university levels, specializing in innovative methodologies for science education. My teaching portfolio includes subjects related to environmental sciences, biology, and didactics, and I have mentored students in undergraduate, and Master's programs. I actively develop educational materials, bridging scientific research and classroom practice, particularly in training future educators in biology and earth sciences fields.
