About
Mr. Mohammed Al-Maari is presently a PhD student in the department of chemical engineering, Universiti Malaya since March 2022, where he is currently working as a graduate research assistant (GRA) on the FRGS research project: thermodynamic studies to elucidate the kinetics and mechanism of oil extraction from rubber seeds using ionic liquids analogs. Mr. Al-Maari began his career in 2009 as a production engineer at Arabian Yemeni Cement Company from 2009 to 2012. In 2012, he transitioned to Hadhramout university as a teaching assistant up to 2020. During this period, he also joined the higher education quality improvement project (HEQIP) as administrative assistant for the chemical engineering program team leader at Hadhramout university from 2012 to 2015. Driven by a desire to deepen his understanding, Mr. Al-Maari pursued his master’s studies in Universiti Science Malaysia (USM) from March 2020 to September 2021, focusing on the co-pyrolysis and catalytic co-pyrolysis of plastic waste and lignocellulosic agricultural waste available in Malaysia into high-quality bio-oil. His research interests expanded further as he embarked on a Ph.D. journey at Universiti Malaya, focusing primarily on the design and development of novel solvents, such as ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents, for various applications in chemical processes, mainly in the extraction process.
