Dr. Moawiya Haddad is a Full Professor at Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU), Dept. Nutrition and food processing. He was the head of the Department of Nutrition and Food Processing between Sep 2018 to Sep 2021. He also worked as the vice chairman of the Jordanian Dietetic Association (JDA) and vice chairman of the Jordanian Society for Sensory Evaluation of Food (JSSEF) between 2016 and 2020. He got his PhD in nutrition and food technology from the University of Jordan in Nutrition and Food Technology and Functional Foods in 2011. He is an expert and team leader in the International Olive Council (IOC) and an expert in the chemistry group of olive oil representing Jordan in the IOC.
Dr. Haddad has experience in the fields of food traceability, probiotics, functional foods, extending the shelf life of foods, antioxidants, antimicrobials, food microbiology, product development, olive oil quality, sensory evaluation, Nutritional Assessment, etc. In the last five years, he has worked on the antimicrobial activity of Jordanian medicinal plants against certain pathogenic microorganisms. He worked on some probiotic bacteria that produce functional peptides. He has more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and two books in Springer. He also participated in the Contact Industry Unit in the University of Jordan- Faculty for Factory (FFF) Program to solve the problems of the food industry sector in Jordan and as a trainer in food Quality systems.
From 2003 to the beginning of 2007 his work was as an instructor at Al-Shoubak Agricultural College in the Department of Agricultural Sciences. He also worked as a technical consultant for the General Association of Foodstuffs Merchants between the years 2003 and 2005. Most of his work was concentrated on the aspects of optimizing between local and international standards of foodstuffs, setting new Jordanian standards for imported and local foods, reviewing the test results of JFDA food laboratories reports for the imported foods, and a representative for the association in the governmental committees including food safety committee, higher committees of food ...etc.
